Da Hong Pao Premium Oolong, Fujian, China

Da Hong Pao Premium is a dark oolong from Fujian province, China. This grade is hard to find even among seasoned oolong drinkers, as the leaf is picked from only six mother bushes.

Taste and aroma

The liquor is rich and dark brown. The aroma carries woody and honeyed shades, with rose, wild flowers, peony, fruit wood, toasted bread, pine nuts, caramel, chocolate, menthol, fresh orange, blueberry and apricot in the bouquet. The taste is soft and layered, the aftertaste long and distinct.

How to brew

• 5–6 g of leaf per 100–150 ml of water.
• Water at 95–100 °C.
• First infusion 10–15 seconds, add 5 seconds each time after.
• Holds 6–8 infusions.
