Lapsang Souchong was Churchill's favourite tea and the most striking exotic in the black category. Nobody walks past it indifferently.
A first encounter can surprise even a seasoned tea drinker: the aroma is piquant, recalling a salty sea, resinous timber or tar. In the cup it stands comparison with an infusion of cinnamon blossom.
The tea works beautifully with meat and spicy dishes. Worth trying, if only to say afterwards with authority that you have tasted every flavour this life has to offer.
Loose leaf from Fujian province, China. Kraft-paper doypack with a clear window and a zip-lock seal.
