Carpathian Cornflower Tea

Legend has it that a simple young man named Vasyl fell in love with a mermaid, and she loved him back.

But the young couple could never agree on where to live: Vasyl kept pulling her onto dry land, and she kept pulling him into the river.

In the end the mermaid got upset and turned him into a flower that holds onto the earth with its roots — a cornflower.

Cornflowers have long been planted along field edges, believed to protect the harvest.
