Ye Sheng Gu Shu Shai Hong GABA Red Tea

Ye Sheng Gu Shu Shai Hong GABA is a red tea from Yunnan province that combines classic shai hong with GABA fermentation. It was created by farmer Qun Ne, and the result is genuinely unusual for a red tea.

Taste and aroma

The aroma is bright, floral-fruity and warm, with notes of ripe berries, plum and a light woody base. In the cup: orchid, fruit wood, honey, cherry and plum. The taste is sweet and full, without the astringency red teas usually carry — soft, honeyed, with a pleasant tartness in the finish. The amber liquor looks especially good in a clear cup.

How to brew

• Water at 90–95 °C, in a gaiwan or teapot.
• Keep the first infusion short, then extend the steeping time.
• Holds many infusions — each one slightly different.

Format

Loose leaf tea in a kraft paper stand-up pouch with a clear window and a zip-lock seal. Available in 7 g, 25 g, 50 g, 100 g + 5 g and 200 g + 10 g.
