The Xia Guan tea factory, founded back in 1912, is a recognized patriarch of Yunnan's tea industry. This 2019 cake is a vivid representative of the classic brewing school.
The blend is built on ripe grade-7 leaf from the Mengsong and Dali regions, generously enriched with golden buds (tips) that give the brew its characteristic body and softness.
Deep and multifaceted, with clear notes of damp wood, peat and warm date-nut undertones.
Dark brown, dense, with a lively glossy sheen and noble ruby glints in the light.
Powerful and enveloping. The initial density with a barely noticeable astringency and delicate sourness instantly gives way to an intense sweet aftertaste, which is how this tea got its name ('Gan' — sweet).
