Pu-erh Tea Paste (Cha Gao, 茶膏 — literally "tea paste") is a unique tea product that first appeared in China in the 7th century.
It is a shu pu-erh extract that retains nearly as many beneficial compounds (trace elements, polyphenols and the like) as regular leaf tea. The one thing it lacks is the bitterness typical of pu-erh.
The taste unfolds notes of corn, dry wood, moss, toasted bread, almond and caramel.
Dissolve about 1 gram of paste in 500 ml of water. If it doesn't fully dissolve, brew it again — cold water works too.
