Golden Leaf Rize is a rare Turkish black tea from Rize, the capital of Turkish tea growing. It is made by a small family company and rarely travels beyond a narrow circle of enthusiasts.
The leaf is golden and fine. The aroma carries a faint wisp of smoke; the cup is deep and soft, with no astringency — clean and balanced. This is the tea Turkey serves to its most welcome guests.
The classic way is the Turkish two-tier çaydanlık: strong infusion on top, hot water below, each cup diluted to taste. An ordinary teapot works too.
