Hong Zhen Luo is a premium Chinese black tea from the mountain gardens of Yunnan. It is made from the first spring buds covered in short pale down: after fermentation those fine hairs turn golden, and the dry leaf looks like curled golden snails.
By processing it is a roasted Bi Luo Chun — the leaves are hand-rolled into tight spirals. The cup opens with orchid, rose, sandalwood and moss, then chestnut, caramel, honey and clove, with a fruity trail of dried apricot, fresh orange and plum.
