Emerald Bamboo Porcelain Teapot, 170 ml

The Emerald Bamboo porcelain teapot, 170 ml, is made in Dehua — the city regarded as the capital of Chinese porcelain.

Three kinds of Dehua porcelain

• Binchzhun — the highest grade, "ice jade": pure white with a cool cast.
• Yanzhiyu — also a high grade, "mutton fat": a milky-white tone with a matte, almost greasy surface. Telling it apart from binchzhun is difficult.
• Sushao — unglazed porcelain.

All grades have zero water absorption, so even unglazed they will not stain from the liquor over time.

This pot is finished in emerald glaze with gold underglaze painting — a technique listed as intangible heritage of China. The teapot is very light and easy to handle, and the strainer is made in the birdcage style.
