Dragon Egg Teapot with Taotie Ornament, Ceramic, 225 ml

The Dragon Egg (Long Dan) shape is one of the most concise and recognisable forms in tea culture. It stands for the birth of new energy and for the potential hidden inside.

Why this teapot is a collector piece

• Mythical Taotie ornament. The body carries the Taotie motif — one of the four evil beasts of ancient Chinese mythology, whose mask often appeared on ritual bronze vessels of the Shang and Zhou dynasties. It is a symbol of insatiable appetite and powerful protection.
• Ancient silvered bronze effect. The surface has a noble metallic sheen with a matte texture, as if the pot were forged from dark silver or cast in patinated bronze.
• Play of colour. Geometric elements of the pattern are picked out with turquoise and terracotta inlays.
• Ergonomics. Handle and spout follow the same metallic styling, and the tall lid knob is easy to hold with a fingertip.
• 225 ml capacity. A roomy pot for an unhurried tea session with three or four friends.
