Hagi-yaki is a style of Japanese ceramics traditionally made in the city of Hagi, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Its charm lies in simplicity and minimal decoration, letting the unique qualities of the clay shine through.

Every hagi piece is different thanks to fine glaze crackling and colour shifts during firing. The pieces are made from a special clay blend of three types of soil that holds the warmth of a drink well. The technique traces back to Korean potters who settled in Hagi at the end of the 16th century.
